  • The Museum of Traditional Crafts and Applied Arts in Troyan is one of Bulgaria's distinctive cultural heritage institutions, dedicated to preserving and presenting the traditions, skills and artistic achievements of generations of craftspeople. Established in 1968, the museum is housed in a historic building dating from 1881. Its collections document the rich craftsmanship of the Troyan region, including ceramics, woodcarving, metalwork, weaving and traditional clothing. Particularly significant is its extensive collection of ceramics, tracing the development of pottery traditions from antiquity to the distinctive forms and decorative techniques of the Bulgarian National Revival. This digital collection provides access to selected museum objects through 3D models, images, descriptive metadata and associated documentation. It aims to make the museum's holdings more discoverable and accessible to researchers, educators, cultural heritage professionals and the wider public. The digitisation and sharing of museum objects create new opportunities to study traditional materials, forms, ornamentation and craftsmanship beyond the physical museum. Where available, additional documentation and paradata provide insights into the processes through which digital representations have been created. Developed in the context of collaboration between the museum and research partners, including 3DLab of IICT-BAS, the ERA Chair FOCUS at IMI-BAS, and CLaDA-bg, this collection contributes to wider efforts to advance Open Science, digital cultural heritage research and the responsible reuse of museum data. By connecting traditional craftsmanship with contemporary digital technologies, the collection offers new ways to explore, understand and appreciate the cultural heritage of Troyan and Bulgaria.
